The family and friends of a man who died in Dubai in a motorbike accident, believe he was the victim of a hit-and -run collision.
Kristopher Neilson was killed when his motorbike careered off Sheikh Zayed Road on August 23.
Mystery initially surrounded the circumstances of the accident. But following an appeal for information in 7DAYS, Kristopher’s parents, William and Julie, now believe their 22-year-old son was knocked off his bike by another vehicle.
Family and friends of the young Scot yesterday paid their respects at a special memorial service at Holy Trinity Church on Oud Metha Road.
He had only owned what was his first motorbike for three days before the accident occurred at interchange four of Sheikh Zayed Road in the direction of Al Barsha, next to Mall of the Emirates.
Lucy Wozniak was a close friend and had known quantity surveyor Kristopher for five years.
“Everything came together in a way that we thought it would and from what we analysed we definitely think Kristopher was hit by a car,” she said.
“We are still waiting for documents, but will probably not find out anything else.
“However, we do think he died straightaway and was never in pain - at least that is some kind of closure.
“Some people we have spoken to say the same thing happened to their friend and they never found out anything either.”
Explaining why Kristopher’s family believe he was the victim of a hit and run, Wozniak added: “The road was straight yet somehow Kristopher went straight into the barrier so we think because of that, and the angle of the bike, another car was involved, which then drove off. Other people we spoke to also told us that there was another car.”
Kristopher was cremated in Scotland and some of his ashes were brought back to Dubai to be scattered.
Police say they are still investigating the incident.
